Please take a moment to read further and decide whether you are a fit for the Baltimore Art Gallery, and whether the Baltimore Art Gallery is a fit for you.
The Format
The Baltimore Art Gallery has a standardized way of doing things. We offer original artwork on canvas panels in three sizes: 8″ x 8″, 12″ x 12″ and 16″ x 16″. The price is also part of the format: the 8″ x 8″ pieces retail for $99, the 12″ square pieces sell for $165 and the larger 16″ pieces go for $229. As an artist, you will get 50% of the sale price. In the case of the small 8″ square pieces, that means you make $49.50. This is on a consignment basis, in other words. Our pricing may change as the year goes on, but you will always be in the loop!
What We Do For You
The Baltimore Art Gallery will furnish you with the canvas panels for your original work. We will also assign you an individual display cabinet with your “artist profile” above your work that includes a photo of your work and brief artist statement/bio. We will also have an artist’s page that shows your information on our website. In addition to promoting your work on a day-to-day basis, we will highlight displaying artists on a rotating, monthly, schedule in our Showcase Gallery (artists receive a higher percent or Showcase art sales). We will give you the data about what is selling which will give you the opportunity to fine tune your work for the public. All of this at one of the best walk-up spots on The Avenue in Hampden!
What We Expect From You
The idea is to have work that is accessible and that sells. A key to this is having artwork that people will buy, frequently. As a displaying artist, we expect you to be able to produce one or two quality pieces per week in our size range, depending on how your artwork is moving.
